Hypnotherapy - using hypnosis for stopping smoking, weight loss/eating control, fear of flying, phobias, anxieties, exam and driving test nerves, hypertension, pain and many other problems

NLP - using how we think, communicate and behave to&

Hypnotherapy is apporoved by the British Medical Association.

Hypnosis is a lot like daydreaming. When you daydream you alter your state of consciousness and let your mind wander, into fantasies. All the time you are conscious and aware yet you remain oblivious to external distractions.

Hypnosis is a technique, which enables you to achieve this altered state of consciousness - the day dream state - deliberately and direct your attention to specific goals in order to achieve them.

In hypnosis, like daydreaming, you are conscious and aware, yet remain oblivious to external distractions. In hypnosis your conscious mind becomes quiet or passive and allows access to the unconscious, a powerful part of the mind. The Hypnotherapist is thus able to introduce positive suggestions into the unconscious mind.

Simple Suggestion hypnotherapy for stopping smoking, weight/eating control, fear of flying, driving test nerves, exam nerves, wedding nerves, study, phobias, anxiety, fears, stress management, panic attacks, hypnosis for childbirth etc. usually takes only two sessions.

After discussing the changes you wish to make and agreeing on the positive suggesyions you want me to make, you simply don headphones and lie back on a comfortable reclining chair as I induce deep relaxation and talk to your unconscious mind.

The second and any subsequent sessions are recorded on to a CD for you to use at home.

COST:  Each session lasts up to 90 minutes and costs £55.00

Card, cash, cheques or bank transfer

There has been a lot in the press recently about obesity and hypnotic gastric banding.
So what is gastric banding?

Gastric banding is a surgical procedure that involves fitting a band around the upper part of your stomach. .
The placing of the band creates a small pouch at the top of the stomach. This pouch fills with food quickly and the band slows the passage of food from the pouch to the lower part of the stomach. As the upper part of the stomach registers as full, the message to the brain is that the entire stomach is full and this sensation helps the person to be hungry less often, to feel full more quickly and for a longer period of time, to eat smaller portions and lose weight over time
It is usually only recommended as a last resort for people who are morbidly obese (those with a BMI of over 40), or those with a BMI of between 30-40 who also have a condition that poses a serious health risk, such as diabetes, high blood pressure (hypertension), or heart disease.
Other criteria include:  the patient is aged 18 or over, he/she has tried all other conventional methods of weight loss, such as exercise and diet, but have failed to lose any significant amount of weight, he/she has no medical or psychological reasons for not carrying out the procedure and he/she understands the long-term commitment to having a gastric band fitted, for example to continue to reduce food intake and maintain a regular exercise regime.

It is possible to be hypnotised into believing you have had a gastric band fitted - you get the results of surgery going under the knife.

I offer a hypnotic gastric band procedure, but I use the same criteria as the NHS and require a patient to have two sessions of my standard eating/weight control before doing the gastric band sessions.

What is High Blood Pressure?
Your blood pressure is a measure of the pressure in your arteries as your heart pumps blood around your body. It naturally changes throughout the day, depending on your emotional state and physical activity levels, but when it stays consistently too high over time it is known as high blood pressure or hypertension.
High blood pressure accounts for 20-25% of all deaths worldwide and affects approximately one in three people worldwide. That's over 16 million people in the UK. Unfortunately, in 90% of cases of high blood pressure (the 'Primary' or 'Essential' Hypertension cases), doctors are unable to find a physical cause

The Hypnotension Programme  has been designed to meet the needs of people who have high blood pressure. This unique  programme looks at the individual needs of each client and the practitioner devises a treatment plan for the most effective way of tackling high blood pressure.
Margaret is a qualified practitioner of the Hypnotension Programme.

Some common myths about Hypnotherapy

MYTH: A person can be made to do things against her will

False. No one can be hypnotised against their will and no one can be made to do anything under hypnosis that they would not do if not under hypnosis. When under hypnosis you can choose to accept or reject any suggestion given. You can say NO.

MYTH: Only weak minded people can be hypnotised

The contrary - the more intelligent a person the easier it is to hypnotise them. In fact in certain cases of mental debility hypnosis is not possible. Almost anyone who wants to be hypnotised can be hypnotised.

MYTH: When in hypnosis the person is in a trance or asleep

Not true at all. Under hypnosis you are awake and very aware - in a state of heightened awareness. You may not feel that you are "under" and may say that, but the hypnotherapist can tell whether you are under hypnosis

You may not feel any different, only relaxed but there are signs:

  • Facial flush
  • lickering eyes
  • Swallowing
  • Slower breathing
  • Relaxation of muscles, esp cheeks, jowls

You may feel:

  • Heavy or light feeling in limbs or body
  • Tingling sensation
  • Floating feeling

MYTH: You can get stuck in hypnosis

False. Even if the Hypnotherapist were to drop dead the person under hypnosis would come out of hypnosis easily. You may fall into a brief sleep then awaken normally or you will open your eyes when the therapists voice has not been heard for a while. Some people do not want to come out of hypnosis - enjoying the feeling or can't be bothered to open their eyes.

MYTH: Deep hypnosis is necessary for good results

Not true. Any level of hypnosis can bring good results. In fact if the hypnosis is too deep you may be "dreamy" and unable to differentiate between fantasy and reality.

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) explores the relationship between how we think (neuro), how we communicate (linguistic) and our patterns of behaviour and emotion (programmes). By studying and learning from these relationships we can effectively transform the way we think and act, adopting new, far more successful models of human excellence.

NLP is therefore a powerful change management tool that transforms the way people think and act to have the greatest impact both professionally and personally.

NLP is a fairly recent development, originating in the United States in the mid-seventies. A group of talented people led by Richard Bandler and John Grinder at the University of Santa Cruz came together to share information and insights across disciplinary boundaries. It incorporates insights from behavioural and Gestalt psychology, family therapy, hypnotherapy, linguistics, information theory and anthropology, among many other disciplines

A wide variety of issues can be resolved with NLP, examples of this are unwanted habits and behaviours, fears and phobias, panic attacks and anxiety, addictions and obsessive compulsive disorder, depression, limiting beliefs, stress and insomnia, stammering, health and weight issues, relationship issues, past trauma, and painful memories.

COST: Each session lasts about 60 minutes and costs £50.00
Shorter sessions are available for minor habits etc.

Card, cash and cheques or bank transfer

Vouchers are always available for all treatments
